Google! One of the most valuable brands in the modern world, is celebrating its 20th Anniversary today. It’s surprising if there’s anyone on planet Earth who doesn’t know what Google is. But a day like today, is a perfect day to have a glimpse on its successful journey so far.

History of Google

Google was founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. This was initiated while they were Ph.D. students at Stanford University in California. They incorporated Google as a privately held company on 4th September 1998, but its anniversary is celebrated on 27th September each year. Even though Google was well-known as the most dominant search engine few years back, today it’s shaping the modern lives with a number of services.

Whether it’s Operating Systems, web browsers, social media platforms, video sharing, email services or cloud storage, Google is present with a chain of its products. Some of its most trending services are Android, Google Chrome, gmail, Youtube, Google Maps, Google translator, Google Earth, Google Drive, Google+, Google Allo, Google Docs, Sheets and Slides. These are just a few, of course there’s a lot more!

Google’s 20th Anniversary celebration

Google marking its journey of two decades, came up with a doodle to thank its users. It takes its users down the memory lane. It features alphabet-shaped balloons attached to a gift box with a ‘play’ option. Tapping on the ‘play’ button on the doodle, leads to a YouTube video that shows popular searches over two decades across different languages. This doodle which was released few hours back, seems to be loved immensely by Google Users all around the world. You can check this doodle using the link given below.

With regard to Google’s 20th Anniversary, it unveiled a number of new features. Most of them are associated with Google search. One of them is “activity cards”, which shows related and past searches if you’re doing something longer term. With the latest update, Google Images gives you more context around the pictures in the search engine. It’s also  reported that Google is to work on ‘search’ as the next chapter of their journey in the months to come.

Google is undoubtedly the most visited website in the world and one of the most trending and valuable brands so far. Starting solely as a search engine now it manages eight popular products with more than 1 billion users. The positive impact it has done to the modern world over the past two decades is just amazing. With time Google has become a ‘must’ in our lives.
