What is open source?
The term open source was introduced in the late 1990s by The Open Source Initiative (OSI). The software code in OSS is designed to be publicly accessible—anyone can see, modify, and distribute the code if anyone wants it. And today I share about open source software that popular in 2021.

Simply use the term Firefox. What is Mozilla Firefox? Well, I think most of us know that! It’s a web browser! Simply it is application software that can access to World Wide Web.
“Internet for people, not profit” is the motto of the firefox.org.
Journey of Firefox
Mozilla Firefox web browser developed by Mozilla Foundation and its subsidiary.
In 1998 first Mozilla project created and release the Netscape browser suite source code. They intended to create a revolutionary change with the help of the creative power of thousands of programmers on the internet. And they succeed on the first try! The programmers engaged and contributed new functionality, enhanced existing features.
Because of the open community, Mozilla became a larger company. And with community members, they change the direction of the project to creating free software that would enable people to have a choice in how they experienced the internet.
After several years of development, Mozilla released the first major version Mozilla 1.0 in 2002. It is named Phoenix. This version had featured many improvements to the browser, email client, and other applications included in the suite. But unfortunately, still, most peoples were using internet explorer.
The Mozilla Foundation was established in 2003 by the Mozilla project, an independent non-profit organization funded by individual donors and a range of businesses. While managing daily operations they promote the product also.
In 2004 Firefox 1.0 had huge success with download over 100 million times
Fast forward a few years!
Launch Firefox OS for the new generation. And Mozilla celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2013. They are still successfully continuing with determinations of “Internet for people, not profit”

The above chart shows that Google Chrome is the major market share. But it does not mean Chrome is the browser that you are looking for an internet experience. No web browser can claim as “The Best” all browser have own unique qualities.
Chrome was introduced in 2008 and its influence as a web browser was unbelievable. And they use high technology to develop chrome. Chrome had a fast loading speed, took up minimal screen space, and offered a simple user interface.
And today many people have an issue with chrome because of their online data such as browsing history, passwords, and other sensitive information. But surely the scheme made a revolutionary change in the browser landscape.
But in Firefox has special care for user privacy and sensitive data. And they are working on redesigning the user interface and performance enhancements that are automatic by default as well as plenty of handy browser tools.
- Security and Privacy
In the latest version of Firefox they have a huge number of dedicated users who value their steadfast dedication to online privacy. For an instance, there is a new feature called Enhanced Tracking Protection (ETP) which is turned on by default for all users worldwide. It prevents trackers like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. There is another feature called Firefox Monitor that automatically notifies you if your, password has been breached or needs to be updated. And in private bowering mode automatically deletes your browsing information such as history and cookies, leaving no trace after you finish your session. And also updated the transparency regarding user data.
Compare to google chrome features to Firefox features they are pretty much the same about security, sandbox feature which separates the device from harmful infects.
Even if google chrome is a safe browser, their privacy record is questionable and they collect data from the users and they say that for improving the service.
It is your choice to make to decide what is good for you.
Both browsers have a large library of extensions and plug-ins and chrome has integrated with other Google services, like Gmail and Google Docs.
Firefox has open-source software with a huge number of active contributors. And also sync feature to see your open and recent tabs, browsing history, and bookmarks across all your devices
Firefox has a nicely curated set of built-in features, such handy screen capture tool, and reading mode feature. But I chrome these are added as an ad-ones.
