Twitter will soon be launching a beta program, where a selected group of users would be trying out its upcoming features, similar to how WhatsApp is testing through its beta app. The following are the parts of the new design twitter is working on, to make the platform more interactive than it is now for the us:

Color-Coded Replies

This would help users to tell apart from replies from people they follow and replies from people that they don’t. According to the reports from those who got an early access to the beta platform, the early version of this new feature would consist of oversaturated colors, though they would be toned down when it reaches to early beta testers.

It is said that Twitter might hide the heart icons from the feed. Instead of being visible under every tweet, it will be visible only when a user taps on one.

According to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, the follower count is no longer relevant on Twitter. So, making heart option not readily available to be used on tweets could be part of this strategy to make Twitter less about the contest for popularity.

More Facebook-like Features

Twitter is also working on a feature for Twitter that looks more like Facebook status updates, where users will be able to post location.

“We’re making some pretty big changes to the way conversations look and feel on Twitter,” stated Sara Haider, director of product management at Twitter, who confirmed these new features that would soon be available on Twitter for everyone, at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) that took place in Las Vegas from 8th to 12th this month.
