Confused by all the different cell phone plans on the market? Have you ever compared hundreds of cell phone plans from the top cell phone carriers to find the right deals for you?
You also have to need to consider which one will have the best coverage obviously.
Luckily there are more options than ever and today we are going to go over one more that you might not know about. Google?? that’s right! google actually offers their own cell service called Google project fi which has very unique features which may make it very attractive depending on a few things. But it’s certainly not for everyone. So let’s go over what google project fi is, how it works and if you already know about it is i’m going to discuss some things i’m sure you’ll be surprised to learn.
First of all what is project fi all about. Well what makes it unique is, that it isn’t so much a call service in itself as it is a collection of cell services. With project fi it uses three partner cell companies plus Wi-Fi hotspots to choose the network with the best reception at any given time and automatically switches between them.
This obviously is unlike other cell networks where you’re just connected to that one and these three networks at the moment are Sprint, t-mobile and US Cellular. So at any given time whichever cell network signal is strongest for your phone that’s the one your phone will use. But you aren’t paying for all these three since all of this is included as part of the Google project fi cost.
It is $20 for unlimited calling and texting and then it’s $10 per gigabyte after that. But you’re going to get refunded what you don’t use even if you only use 400 megabytes, you know you’ll get the extra 600 put back and it would be a credit on your account of about six dollars. Therefore you’re only paying for what you’re using. You can use international data as well there’s no charge you go to 120 pre-approved countries for international texting. If you want to make calls internationally it’s going to be 20 cents per minute.
There is another thing you need to know which is that project fi only works on certain devices. You technically have to either have a Nexus 6, Nexus 6p, Nexus 5x or a Pixel phone, in other words a phone made by google.
